Zoho Writer · Authorized Zoho partner
Zoho Writer is Zoho's free online word processor. Its document automation merges data from Zoho CRM, Zoho Creator and Zoho Forms into contracts, offer letters and invoices, then emails them, files them or sends them for signature.
This page is a merge template too. Switch the record or show the fields in the bar above.

Example data, not a customer.
Zoho Writer has no paid editor plan. Individuals and companies get every editing feature and unlimited documents. Credits only start counting when Writer generates documents from your data.

A Writer template maps its fields to a module or form you already use. When the merge runs, each output is a separate step you choose, and each generated document costs one credit (a PDF Form costs five).
New in 2026
The latest Writer updates cut the template sprawl most teams live with: one template per plan, per language, per employee type. We covered them in How Zoho Writer turns static templates into smarter workflows.
Show or hide whole sections from merge data: plan coverage, a clause for contractors only, a tax note for one country.
This page does it: switch to Record 2 and the Mexico clause in the hero disappears.
Describe the result and the assistant writes, fixes or refines the formula. Twelve new string functions handle text cleanup.
Turn "MARÍA LÓPEZ" from an import into "María López".
Rich text fields keep their bold and lists. Subform merge can create a separate document for each row.
One certificate per attendee from a single event record.
A Zoho Checkout payment link can ride in the same email as the merged document.
Renewals, registrations and donation requests.
Replace a fillable PDF with a new version without redoing field mappings or signature fields.
The insurer updates its form; your automation keeps running.
Zoho charges per generated document, after the free credits. Set your volume and see the bill. Rates are Zoho's published USD list rates, checked on November 5, 2026; taxes may apply and the Zoho Store has the final figure.
| Credits used | 1,500 |
| Free credits | 1,000 |
| Billable credits | 500 |
| Flexible plan activation | $1 |
| Estimated per month | $26 |
The editor stays free either way. Each merge job runs up to 5,000 merges a day; Zoho can raise that limit.
How we set it up
We are an authorized Zoho partner. Most teams we meet keep a dozen near-identical templates and fix names by hand. We collapse them into a few smart ones and wire them to the apps your data already lives in.
We list every document you send, who sends it and how often, and find the ones that are really one template.
Each field gets a home in CRM, Creator or Books, so nobody types a name twice.
Conditional sections and formulas replace copies of the same file.
Email, store in WorkDrive, send through Zoho Sign, or attach a payment link.
A deal stage, a form submission or a Deluge function starts the merge. See our notes on Zoho Flow custom function outputs.
We test every rule with real records, estimate your monthly credits, and train the people who edit the templates.
See the work in our customer stories, or every service on Zoho services.
Zoho Writer is Zoho's online word processor. It has real-time co-editing, comments, track changes and Word compatibility, plus document automation: mail merge, fillable forms and e-signature collection from data in Zoho apps.
Yes. The editor is free for individuals and organizations, with all its features and no limit on the number of documents. Only document automation uses credits, and every organization gets 200 or 1,000 free credits a month.
After the free credits, Zoho lists $0.05 per credit up to 4,000, $0.02 from 4,001 to 9,000 and $0.01 from 9,001 to 200,000. The flexible post-pay plan costs $1 a month to activate. Most documents cost 1 credit; a PDF Form costs 5.
Zoho's own example: 8,000 credits in a month with 1,000 free comes to $260.
You build a template in Writer, insert fields from a CRM module such as Deals or Quotes, and run the merge from a record, a list of records or a workflow. Each record becomes its own document, which Writer can email, store or send to sign. Subform rows can each become a separate document.

Yes. Merge & Send for Sign routes each merged document through Zoho Sign, and the signed copy can be stored back in WorkDrive.
