Zoho Creator Available Updates in October 2022

24.11.22 09:58 PM By CreatorScripts

The following features and upgrades will be covered in this article.
In-app notifications
Backend enhancements to improve field usability
Increasing usability of drop down and multi select fields
Custom connectors
Removing page parameters

In-app notifications are now available.

Notifying users who are referenced in record comments was one of the most often requested features in our communities, and we've clearly heard you. By keeping users informed and giving them immediate alerts for certain activity, notifications are the current option for educating and energizing them.

In order to accommodate real-time notifications for approval workflows, blueprint workflows, record comments, push notifications for Deluge tasks, as well as crucial announcements across online, mobile, and tablet platforms, creator notifications are getting a significant overhaul.

The photos below demonstrate how the above activities' notice displays will look.
1. A notification that appears when someone @mentions you in a form's record comments

2. Notification shown when you have yet to review an approval process for a record in any of the forms

3. Notification shown when you have a record for which the stage transition is pending

Backend enhancements to improve the usability of form fields

As previously said, we'll be introducing a few technical backend improvements that'll let you change the character restrictions for some fields. After this upgrade, you'll be able to effectively handle more fields in a form by being able to adjust field character limitations.

For instance, if the field character limit is set to 255 after the update, only 60 fields can be added to a form; setting the character length to 100 would add 160 fields; setting the character length to 80 will add 200 fields. In other words, lowering the character restriction will let you expand the number of fields on your form.

It should be noted that these improvements only apply to customers whose applications include forms with about 60 fields, with the sole purpose of altering space to accommodate more fields down the road. Some fields in your forms may have their maximum character length values modified as a result of these backend changes. We'll send you an email with information on the fields whose values have changed and their new values so you can examine and follow these changes. We also want to reassure you that we have taken all necessary steps to make sure the transition goes smoothly and has little effect on you.

Introducing custom connectors

As promised, we'll soon be releasing unique connectors to assist you in integrating with any external third-party service. These connectors can be created by you (the admin) under Connections in the Microservices section.

You can incorporate extra third-party cloud services into your Zoho Creator applications that are not already supported by built-in connectors by using custom connectors. Now that Basic, API Key, and OAuth2 authentication techniques are supported by services, you can design and setup your own connections for those applications.

To build a custom connector, the following key configurations are required:
General: Specifies the fundamental particulars of your unique connector, including its name, description, and logo.
Security: Specifies the custom connector's authentication settings, including the authentication type, parameters, scopes, and additional parameters.

You can use a connector to conduct REST activities on the target service from Zoho Creator once it has been constructed and a connection has been made. For instance, you can build a custom Google connector, establish a connection, and connect to it to access your Google Drive account using Google's REST APIs. The integrations listed can then be carried out with your connected Google account using this connection.

Removing page parameters

Before, you could only delete page parameters if the page didn't contain any active HTML/ZML snippets. The removal of page parameters becomes challenging due to this restriction. To fix this, we will now provide a confirmation before deleting page settings to allow deletion.

Users are presented with a list of references where a page parameter has been used when requesting its deletion if it has been used in any other element on the same page. Only after every single reference has been checked for accuracy and eliminated can they move forward with the deletion.

We know you're eager to try out these exciting updates, and we hope that this announcement is helpful in planning your upcoming projects and apps.

We'd also like to thank you once again for your loyalty and continued support!
